After two races at Shanghai: Ho-Pin Tung 3rd in championship Porsche Carrera Cup Asia
Chinese racing driver Ho-Pin Tung claims third position in the standings of the Porche Carrera Cup Asia 2014, after two races at the Shanghai circuit, this weekend. In first race, on Saturday, he finished fourth and in the second one on Sunday he did fifth. Yet Ho-Pin Tung is not happy with these results. His car lacked the pace to be able to fight with the top of the field.
The results of this weekend´s races show Ho-Pin Tung as third in the first race. This is the consequence of the disqualification of fellow contender Earl Bamber. His team is appealing against this decision and if the appeal is granted Ho-Pin Tung will fall back to fourth position, both in Saturday´s race and in the championship ratings.
´Especcially in second race my car lacked speed, one of guys overtook me even at the straight, and I suffered from understeer in both the slow and the high speed corners,´ the Budweiser Team Absolute Racing star driver stated right after the second race. The weekend started hopefull though. He scored third fastests twice during qualifying in the wet. Saturday´s race took place in wet conditions too. ´Right after the start I fought my way up and was in second position, after the first few laps. A small mistake, which was my fault, gave two guys the opportunity to overtake me, with fourth position at the chequered flag as a result.´ Ho-Pin Tung started third in Sunday´s race. He soon had to realise that he lacked speed and suffered understeer. This difference between him and the cars ahead was trifling, but more than fifth at the finishline proved to be impossible.
