Ho-Pin Tung and David Cheng join forces again and will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship 2016 with Baxi DC Racing Alpine, founded by actor SR Jackie Chan. The two successful Chinese heroes will drive the proven successfull Alpine A460-Nissan in the LM P2 class.
After two successive championships in the Asian Le Mans Series Ho-Pin Tung is a bit addicted to long distance racing. He has competed three times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Also this year he will be at the start on the holy grounds of La Sarthe. After the WEC Prologue at end of March the FIA WEC season will start at Silverstone, mid of April. A third driver will be announced by the team at a later date.
‘I am a very happy man to have the opportunity to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2016! This is a dream coming true. Over the last few years David Cheng and I have enjoyed many successes in the Asian Le Mans Series, I am proud that we are embarking on the next chapter of our great story together by joining the successful Alpine team, which gives me great confidence to continue our successes. And of course I am very excited that for the fourth consecutive time I will compete in the most challenging and most prestigious long distance race of
all, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The renewed support from TRS and Baxi shows the ever growing interest of endurance racing in China and we are now entering the world stage with them, I can hardly wait until the FIA WEC season sparks off at Silverstone,’ comments Ho-Pin Tung.
