Ho-Pin Tung and Jackie Chang DC Racing lack fortune in FIA-WEC 6 hours of Austin at the Circuit of the Americas
two weeks after the Mexican round, the FIA-WEC made its second stop on the American continent in Texas. Since 2012, the 6 Hours of COTA – the acronym of the Circuit Of The Americas – is a round that has become highly appreciated by teams and drivers alike.
Mexico was a disappointment for the Chinese squad Jackie Chan DC Racing x JOTA Sport with Ho-Pin Tung, Oliver Jarvis and Thomas Laurent. A clutch problem made them loose much time for repairs. The car was fast, in quali the team scored second place on the grid, but in the six hours race the # 38 car did fall back to 9th at the finish line.

FIA-WEC 6 hours of Austin at the Circuit of the Americas
At the Circuit of the Americas Ho-Pin Tung and his team mates Oliver Jarvis and Thomas Laurent scored 4th place in LM P2 and 8th overall in the tropical conditions Austin provided this 6th round of the FIA-WEC Championship 2017 with. This result made the #38 squad stay in the lead of the rankings, but it is no longer a comfortable lead. The Jackie Chan DC Racing x Jota Sport # 38 Oreca suffered from a lack of pace all weekend at Austin, which made the American stop over into a dissapointment.
Ho-Pin Tung reflects on the weekend: ‘Although we came well prepared, for the first time this year we simply didn’t have the pace this weekend. We all fought hard though and had some great on track battles. To salvage P4 and solid points despite the lack of pace is something which we should take as a possitive. We have got an extensive analysis to do but I believe as a team we have already identified the areas where we could improve. I am therefore confident we will be strong at Fuji again. Conditions today were very hot but luckily never close to unbearable in the car. Last but not least: our crew did a fantastic job with the pit stops despite the heat; flawless and fast’.
