HO-PIN TUNG AGAIN ON THE PODIUM
For the second time this season Ho-Pin Tung scored a podium finish in the Budweiser Porsche Carrera Asia Cup races. This weekends´ venue, Sepang circuit, Malaysia, brought Ho-Pin Tung a third place at the finish of the first race. Also in the second race at Sepang the young Chinese did well, although he was bothered by a light flu, all weekend. Ho-Pin shares now third place in the overall standings. ´I am reasonably happy with this weekend´s results,´ he reported right after his race on Sunday.
There are four races to go before the championship will be decided and this season comes to an end. Two races in Singapore, supporting the Grand Prix Formula 1 outing there and the last two races in Shanghai. Ho-Pin hopes to climb anohter step in the rankings, the championship is out of reach.
Ho-Pin Tung qualified third. This could have even better, but he found himself stuck in the traffic in his utlimate flying lap. In Race 1 the Chinese driver had a very good start, though he went a little wide in the hectic of the first corner. He lost a place which he managed to reclaim after some serious battling. A slow puncture stopped his ambition to march on, at the finish line his left front tyre was flat. The second race Ho-Pin started from sixth, because of the reverse grid rule . He was forced of the track by a fellow contender, lost a position which he reclaimed successfully. So Ho-Pin Tung finished in sixth position. In the final results he moved up one place because of a time penalty for one of his colleagues.
