HO-PIN TUNG AGAIN IN PORSCHE CARRERA CUP ASIA
Chinese racing driver Ho-Pin Tung will again compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. The 2013 edition of the championship will be launched at Sepang, as part of the supporting program of this weekends’ Malaysian Grand Prix for Formula 1 cars. Races will be held in several Asian countries throughout the year. It is Ho-Pin Tung’s second season in this prestigious class; in his debut year he managed to score podiums and he ended fifth in the strongly contested championship.
Ho-Pin Tung (30) has been able to continue his fruitful relationship with his sponsors. Budweiser moves with him to Kamlung Racing Team, which will be rebaptized ‘Budweiser Kamlung Racing’. Also TAG Heuer, Mouser, IZOD and Oakley remain loyal to the Chinese.
Ho-Pin Tung will also compete in the Asia version of the Le Mans Series, which was officially announced a fortnight ago. The Chinese has been appointed first driver at the OAK Racing Team, for which outfit he will race the Morgan LM P2-car.
‘I have a tight schedule this year, racing in two different classes. The cars, the Porsche Carrera and the Morgan LM P-2, are also quite different,’ Ho-Pin stated. ‘ But I am one hundred percent fit and my experience from over the years will help to fight for the victory in both classes. I am proud to defend the honor of China in the Asia Le Mans Series and in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. I consider these two challenges to be the best possible continuation of my career. And having the opportunity to experience endurance racing comprises a great perspective,’ Ho-Pin says .
