Bad luck for Ho-Pin Tung in Singapore
Good qualifying, a rocket start and solid progress during the race did not enable Chinese racing driver Ho-Pin Tung to score valuable points in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Championship at the Marina Bay Circuit, Singapore, this weekend. It was a chaotic race in the narrow streets in the support program of the Singapore Grand Prix, Sunday. Ho-Pin Tung started from P6 on the grid: ´I had a good start, after the very first corner I took fifth´position.´ Only a few laps later Ho-Pin overtook Alexandre Imperatori in a brilliant action in the chicane. A safety car situation neutralised the race for six laps. Afterwards the two contenders took up their fight again. Ho-Pin Tungs Porsche went wide in oversteer and the two collided. Ho-Pin Tung lost in that crash his left front wheel, which meant end of race for the Chinese. ´It is a shame that I was not able to score points here, after my victory in Korea,´ Ho-Pin commented. ´In qualifying I lost my flying lap because of traffic in the third sector, I am sure that I could have made it to pole position.´ Ho-Pin Tung now will concentrate on the seasons´ finale in Shanghai in a month time.
