PODIUM FINISH HO-PIN TUNG IN PORSCHE CARRERA CUP ASIA
Bad memories of the races in Korea vanished quickly . Ho-Pin Tung scored a well deserved third place in this weekends´ second race in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, at the Fuji International Speedway, Japan. He also claimed fastests lap time. In Saturdays´ race he could not do better than seventh. Already in free practises the young Chinese of the Budweiser Team Absolute Racing was second fastest. In both races his pace was very good. With a good ´podium feeling´ Ho-Pin Tung dashed off at Fuji heading for Le Mans, where he will compete for the third time in succession in the most legendary of all endurance races, the 24 hours of Le Mans.
´In both races my starts were perfect. This seemes to become my trade mark, ´ Ho-Pin Tung commented. In Saturdays´ race he fought his way up till fourth position. In a heavy fight, he locked up his rear brakes causing a spin of the Porsche. ´I lost several positions as a result of my own mistake, but managed to fight back to seventh.´
Also in the second race Ho-Pin Tung had a rocket start. He cutted through the field and found himself in third position at the first corner. He was hit hard by a fellow contender and had to loose two places. His pace was very good, he even did fastest lap time. ´I was able to succesfully fight my up and was preparing to take over second place, when again my brakes locked. Due to flat spots on the tyres I had to consolidate on third position. But, that is podium and felt good. From now on all focuss will be on Le Mans.´
