JACKIE CHAN DC RACING X JOTA SPORT BEGINS 2019 LE MANS CHALLENGE IN POSTIVE FASHION
JACKIE CHAN DC RACING X JOTA SPORT has left a positive impression after a trouble-free first qualifying session for the 87th edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans, which marks the Super Finale of 2018-19 FIA World Endurance Championship on 15-16 June.
During the 120-minute qualifying session, which took place under cool condition, the #Mighty38 car driven by Ho-Pin Tung, Stephane Richelmi and Gabriel Aubry being the best of the Dunlop-shod runners was sixth fastest in LMP2 class, thanks to the late improvement by Tung with 3:28.738 on his last lap.
Ricky Taylor in the #Foutunecat37 that he shares with Jordan King and David Heinemeier-Hasson posted a lap time of 3:29.498 at the beginning of the incident-interrupted session, leaving the trio to sit in the middle of the class field by 20 entrants.
The grid for the legendary endurance event is decided by the best single lap from three two-hour qualifying sessions, split over Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday’s action began with a four-hour practice session and the Chinese team operated by JOTA Sport maximised the shortened track time, due to red flag and rain, to optimise mechanical and aerodynamic set-ups, recording a combined total of 64 laps.
The first qualifying session, which ran from 22:00 to midnight, allowed all six drivers to discover nigh-time driving at Circuit de la Sarthe for the first time this race week and complete the mandatory minimum number of night laps in order to race.
With four more hours of qualifying remaining, the 2017 Le Mans-class-winning squad is now carrying on analysing the various data and the different compounds of Dunlop tyres, comparing both outright speed and durability to optimise all areas of the two ORECA 07-Gbison cars prior to the showdown of the WEC Super Season.
