HO-PIN TUNG SECURES SECOND PLACE IN SUPERLEAGUE FORMULA OP ZOLDER

Dutch-Chinese driver Ho-Pin Tung, competing for Atletico Madrid in Superleague Formula ended the race in a much better position as the first race. He finished the race in second place after an exciting duel with Esteban Guerrieri. “This second place is very satisfying and I need only one further step on the podium platform, “ said a happy Ho-Pin Tung afterwards. The first race on Sunday morning was too short when he was a victim of a crash in the first corner after the start. His race was over immediately.
The team of Alan Docking did a fantastic job as it had lots of work to do to repair the heavily damaged car after race 1. After only two and half hours of doing repairs the car was ready again and fitted with rain tyres for race two with only a couple of minutes left before the start of the race. The race was started behind the safety car. At the right moment Ho-Pin changed to slick tyres and produced fast lap times for the rest of the race and after a short safety car period he was leading the race. A small mistake at the end of the race costed him first place when Guerrieri overtook Ho-Pin using the “push to pass system”. Despite a good speed in the race he qualified only 13th due to some bad luck with yellow flags.
During the first Superleague Formula weekend in Magny Cours and during the second weekend in Zolder Ho-Pin Tung demonstrated he is very quick in the Atletico Madrid car. The next event will be held at the Donington racetrack where Ho-Pin has never raced before. “already I am practising the Donington track on the computer.
