HO-PIN TUNG ON THE PODIUM IN HIS PORSCHE CARRERA ASIA CUP DEBUT

Chinese racing driver Ho-Pin Tung impressed at his debut in the Porsche Carrera Asia Cup races by scoring a third place in this weekends´ second race at the Shanghai International circuit. The Porsche Carrera Asia Cup races were featured as support races of the Chinese Grand Prix. Ho-Pin Tung"s success on Sunday did not mean he had no problems. The first race, on Saturday, he dit not manage to do better than eighth position, because of his strugling with the cars balance. "I suffered quite some understeer, which occured mainly in the long corners, of which there many here." On Sunday the balance of the car was better, with a third place as a result.

The reverse grid brought Ho-Pin Tung pole position on Sunday. He had a splendid start and created a gap of more than four seconds. Ho-Pin was the proud race leader when the wear of his tyres made it possible for his fellow contenders to close the gap. "I had to fight for my third position, I am glad with success!" Race winner and team mate Alexandre Imperatori completed the succes of the StarChase-team. Ho-Pin Tung proudly saw the Chinese flag being raised above the rostrum, when he climbed the third step. "Next race hopefully two stepts higher, "Ho-Pin commented with a smile. "I would like to have raced with my team mate for boths wins. The balance was better today, but still not as I wanted it to be. We will have a close look data and try to improve so next time I can challenge Alex. " I have full confidence in my team and I look forward with great expectations to the next round," Ho-Pin stated right after his Porsche Carrera Asia Cup debut in his fatherland.

Ho-Pin Tung joins Budweiser Team StarChase for battle in Porsche Carrera Cup Asia

Dutch born Chinese racing driver Ho-Pin Tung continues his successfull career in Asia. This week he will will be debuting in the Budweiser StarChase Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racing car and he will compete in the 2012 edition of Porsche Carrera Cup Asia championship, which will celebrate its 10th season as the region's premier one-make championship. This new co-operation was announced by Budweiser APAC President Miguel Patricio during a spectacular launch event at Xin Tian Di in Shanghai, also attended by Porsche China CEO Helmut Broeker.

Ho-Pin Tung moves to the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia after having been Formula 1- reserve driver for two years. "This year it seemed to be impossible to move one step up in Formula 1, even experienced Formula 1-drivers could not or just hardly conquer a racing seat. Of course my F1 ambition will always be there but getting the chance to team up with Budweiser and Porsche in this exciting project is an amazing opportunity." the Chinese racer explains. Choosing the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia makes sense from several perspectives, Ho-Pin states: "I want to race, I want to compete and I want to make my bonds with China even stronger, so this racing class is the right choice at this moment in my career. Furthermore it's great to be racing with such an iconic car as the Porsche 911."

The 2012 field brings together many strong and in this class experienced drivers. Ho-Pin has raced in several classes, but these were in single seater racing cars, Formula 3, GP2, Superleague Formula, A1GP and Formula 1 (as a test- and reserve driver of the Renault and Lotus Renault Formula 1 teams). "Driving these fast Porsches is very different than the single seaters, I have to get used to it very quickly. I am delighted with the support Budweiser gives to me in addition to the continuous support of my loyal parnters TAG Heuer, Mouser Electronics and Bowers&Wilkins. I will give all I have to move the team, the partners and myself into the spotlights of success."

With the season proper getting underway as part of the 2012 Formula 1 UBS Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, the battle for the Porsche Carrare Asia Cup sparks off April 14th . The series will be part of two China Touring Car Championship meetings: The first is in Zhuhai in June, with the second at the Ordos International Circuit in Inner Mongolia in July. The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia then descends upon Malaysia's Sepang International Circuit, where it will join the Merdeka Millennium Endurance weekend for the first time in its ten-season history. In September, the series returns to Singapore and the Marina Bay street circuit for the 2012 Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix weekend.The 2012 season comes to a close in November with another first: The grand finale will be held as part of the newly-founded Shanghai Sportscar Festival.

New partner Budweiser joins the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia foray this season, along with existing series partners Mobil 1, Michelin, ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Adidas. The first collaboration with the series, the partnership also marks Budweiser's first step into motorsport in Asia.

HO-PIN TUNG OP PODIUM IN EERSTE RACE OM PORSCHE CARRERA ASIA CUP

Ho-Pin Tung heeft bij zijn debuut in de races om de Porsche Carrera Asia Cup al een podiumplaats gescoord. Hij werd derde in de tweede race van dit weekend, die in het voorprogramma van de Formule 1-wedstrijd in Shanghai werd verreden. Probleemloos was zijn weekend geenszins. In de eerste race, op zaterdag werd hij achtste, door de slechte balans van de Porsche 911 GT3. "Ik had, had last van veel onderstuur, vooral in de lange doordraaiende bochten en die heb je hier nogal veel." Maar zondag ging alles veel beter, met een plekje op het podium als resultaat.

Door de omgekeerde grid mocht Ho-Pin Tung in de tweede race, zondagochtend, vlak voor de Grand Prix, van pole position starten. Hij trok meteen een gat van ruim vier seconden en lag fier aan de leiding. De balans van de auto was beter, maar nog niet zoals Ho-Pin wilde. "Door mijn sterker wordende bandenslijtage kon het veld weer aansluiten en heb ik moeten vechten voor mijn derde plek. Gelukkig met succes!" Racewinnaar en teamgenoot Alexandre Imperatori maakt het feestje van het StarChaseteam compleet. De Chinese coureur van het Budweiser Team StarChase zag trots de Chinese vlag gehesen worden toen hij het derde treetje van het rostrum betrad. Ho-Pin: "Volgende wedstrijd graag een paar treetjes hoger! Mijn debuut had zonder het onderstuurprobleem veel beter gekund en zou graag met Alexandre om de eerste plaats hebben gestreden, maar het is en blijft een technische sport. Het team gaat de race data bestuderen om de balans van de auto te verbeteren. "Ik heb veel vertrouwen in het team en zie dus met positieve verwachtingen uit naar de volgende ronde in de strijd om de Porsche Carrera Asia Cup," besluit Ho-Pin Tung.

Nederlands-Chinese coureur Ho-Pin Tung gaat racen in Azië, in de Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. Hij treedt deze week aan voor de eerste race in de Porsche 911 GT3 Cup auto van het Budweiser Team StarChase, tijdens het Grand Prix-weekend in Shanghai. Ho-Pin maakt deze overstap na twee jaar reserverijder geweest te zijn in de Formule 1. Deze nieuwe samenwerking werd, onder toeziend oog van Porsche China CEO Helmet Broeker, bekend gemaakt door Budweiser APAC President Miguel Patricio tijdens een spectaculaire presentatie in het hippe Xin Tian Di in Shanghai.

"De Formule 1 zit er dit jaar niet in, zie maar hoe moeilijk zelfs ervaren F1-rijders het hebben om een stoeltje te bemachtigen. Mijn F1 ambitie zal natuurlijk nooit verdwijnen maar het is een prachtige kans om met Budweiser en Porsche in dit project samen te werken en eentje die ik met beide handen aangrijp." De keuze voor de Porsche Carrera Cup Asia vindt Ho-Pin heel logisch. "Ik wil blijven racen, competitie leveren en ik wil mijn banden met China nog verder versterken, dus deze klasse is nu de juiste keuze. Verder is het natuurlijk erg speciaal om met zo'n iconische auto als de Porsche 911 te kunnen racen."

Het veld kent een aantal sterke en in deze klasse ervaren rijders. Ho-Pin heeft weliswaar in veel verschillende klassen geracet, maar dat waren open formule klassen, zoals de Formule 3, GP2, Superleague Formula, A1GP en Formule 1 (als test- en reserverijder). "Het rijden met deze snelle Porsche is heel anders dan de monoposto's, die ik jarenlang heb gereden, het is echt wennen." Ik ben enorm blij met de nieuwe steun van Budweiser als aanvulling op mijn trouwe partners TAG Heuer, Mouser Electronics en Bowers&Wilkins. Ik zal alles geven om het team, de partners en mijzelf in de picture te rijden."

董荷斌首站亚洲保时捷卡雷拉杯获第三

华裔车手董荷斌加盟百威追星车队，在上海国际赛车场首站参加亚洲保时捷卡雷拉杯比赛，在周日（4月15日）的比赛中获得第三名的战绩。
亚洲保时捷卡雷拉杯比赛是F1比 赛的外围支持赛。正如董荷斌赛前所说的，以前驾驶的都是方程式赛车，与保时捷赛车有很大区别，因此需要很快适应保时捷赛车。在周六的第一场比赛中，董荷斌
气不佳，一直在为赛车的平衡问题纠结。董荷斌说，"在周六的比赛中，赛车一直处于转向不足的状态，尤其是在长弯道上，这个情况更明显，而上海赛场的长弯 道又相对比较多。"在周日的比赛中，转向不足问题得到了调整，董荷斌取得了第三的好成绩。在周日的比赛中董荷斌处于杆位发车，而且出发情况良好，一度将位居第二的车手落下4秒多。但是董荷斌的车胎磨损严重，使得他的队友有机会接近他并超过他。最后队友亚历山大⋅安 派拉托里获得冠军，董荷斌获得第三名。华裔车手董荷斌非常兴奋地看到中国国旗在第三的位置升起。"对于今天取得的成绩我还是比较满意的，但是希望下一场比 赛我能再上两个台阶，取得第一"，董荷斌微笑地说。"我希望和队友一起赢得比赛的胜利。今天赛车的平衡有所改进，但是还没有达到完美的状态。我们将认真研 究一下有关数据，并加以进一步改善，下次我就能挑战队友亚历山大了。我对我们车队充满信心，我对下次比赛也给予了很大希望，"董荷斌在比赛后充满信心的表 示。

董荷斌加入百威追星车队征战亚洲保时捷卡雷拉杯

日前保时捷中国首席执行总裁柏涵慕在上海新天地宣布，华裔赛车手董荷斌今年加入百威追星车队征战亚洲保时捷卡雷拉杯比赛，继续他在亚州的辉煌战绩。本周董荷斌将代表百威追星车队驾驶保时捷911 GT3 Cup赛车出现在上海F1赛场上，参加亚洲保时捷卡雷拉杯比赛。今年也是亚洲保时捷卡雷拉杯比赛赛事十周年。

华裔车手董荷斌曾两个年度出任雷诺F1车队第三车手，今年移师参加亚洲保时捷卡雷拉杯比赛。董荷斌表示，"F1的梦想一直萦绕着我，但是要想在F1车 队得到一个位子非常困难，这是由多方面的因素决定的。因此能有机会和百威保时捷在此项目上合作是个绝好的机会。选择亚洲保时捷卡雷拉杯比赛时目前最适合我 的选择，我渴望参加比赛，我渴望赢得比赛，我渴望和祖国有着更紧密的联系，因此今年这个亚洲系列赛是最适合我的比赛。除此之外，能够驾驶保时捷911这款车比赛真是太棒了。"

2012赛季将是高手云集的赛季。华裔车手董荷斌曾参加过各种比赛，但是无论是F3，GP2,F1还是A1，均为方程式赛车。"驾驶如此高速的保时捷与驾驶方程式赛车有很大区别，我必须很快熟悉使用的赛车。我非常感谢百威给予我的支持，并感谢一直以来支持我的豪雅表、贸泽电子以及B&W公司。我将尽自己的最大努力为车队、为合作伙伴、为自己争取最大荣誉"，董荷斌说。

作为本周末F1中国大奖赛的外围比赛，亚洲保时捷卡雷拉杯比赛将于4月14日在上海国际赛车场拉开序幕。除此之外，在珠海和鄂尔多斯还将有两场比赛。之后比赛将会移师马来西亚雪邦国际赛场。9月份，比赛将作为F1新加坡大奖赛的外围比赛在新加坡举行。亚洲系列赛将在11月份结束，届时最后一场比赛将作为新面世的上海跑车节的一部分，圆满结束一年的征战。

百威作为亚洲保时捷卡雷拉杯新的合作伙伴加入本赛季，除此之外还有美孚一号，米其林，德国采埃孚股份公司和阿迪达斯公司。和董荷斌的合作也使得百威在亚洲第一次运动汽车领域。
